Birth and Postpartum Services
Birth Doula Support
My birth doula support centers around you and your partner, your needs and desires for your birth experience, and helping you navigate the profound transformation of becoming parents. Prenatally we will meet up to 2 times to get to know each other better, clarify your birthing goals, reinforce any childbirth education you may have, think through what comfort measures and coping techniques may best serve you, discuss how your partner can best support you and how I can support them as well, and any other topics that feel important to you.
Beyond the logistics of birth, we may delve into the emotional landscape, any fears or concerns you both may have, and I can provide exercises or guided discussion to bring these to light so you may address them before the time of birth. Of course, birth itself is a journey that unfolds as we experience it, and I will be there with you to guide, support, and champion you along the way. After, I will remain with you for a couple of hours to assist with breastfeeding, bonding, and nourishment.
Then I offer 1 postpartum follow up visit to make sure you're doing well, talk about the birth if you'd like to, and set you up with any resources you may need. If you hire me to also be your postpartum doula, then that would just be integrated into our first postpartum shift.
Postpartum Doula Support
The postpartum period is a tender, formative time in the life of a new family. Whether this is your first baby, or you're welcoming a sibling into the family, there's is a need for the proverbial village to come together and surround you with love and support. With my services as a postpartum doula, I can help you create a peaceful setting to recover from birth, bond with your baby, and come into your new role(s) as slowly and gently as you need. This is a time for rest, nourishment, healing, processing, and also the joy of new life, of beginnings, and creation. I truly believe that the postpartum time is one of the most sacred parts of this journey to parenthood. It is my deepest passion to give new families the care they deserve during this time. Primarily, my role is to support the mother/postpartum parent's physical and emotional state after birth, offering guidance, affirmation, healing modalities, good food, breastfeeding support, and good ole' cheerleading! I'm also there to support the partner as they care for the mother/parent and baby.
I provide newborn care and instruction on how to care for your precious baby (including babywearing, sleep, development, and more), and can also provide household support such as laundry, dishes, errands, etc. Think of me as a resource, a helpful hand, a shoulder to cry on, a baby whisperer, and a good friend all rolled into one.
